Me and My Sister Tell Each Other Everything

by Uther Dean

When her sister didn’t let her help build the dollhouse, Murph Willcott was hurt, she just didn’t know it yet. She watched her sister as she got to construct and control a whole universe of her own. But everything looks whole from far away.

Jos and Murph are sisters. Jos and Murph don’t speak anymore. But Murph has done something only Jos will understand. An intricately woven story with songs featuring dollhouses, deodorants and the damage we carry.

Me and My Sister Tell Each Other Everything was a Tron Theatre Comapany show which I designed video for. Working on a tight budget, we used wireless cameras to bring the audience inside Jenny Booth’s intricate miniature dollshouse. These live images were mixed with stylised static setpieces and authentic home videos from the performers’ childhoods to create a design that was at once fuzzily nostalgic and bleakly distant.
